My mothers maiden name was Bugg and she was from Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, England. i have done a little research and know that her great grandfather came from Moreton by Bourne in Lincolnshire. The family appreantly settled in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire after the Norman Conquest of England in 1066 where they held estates. The name is therefore Norman French in origin, though it should be remembered that these "Frenchmen" came from Scandinavia originally and Normandy is derived from the term "Norsemansland". I wondered if the Australian Bugg's knew where there ancesters came from before they lived in Australia? Perhaps they also came from Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire? I intend to do further research when time permits, it is a task that you never really fully complete! I would be delighted to hear from anyone interested or who has done research already.

Best wishes to all Bugg's
