I was doing a search on Dr. Luther F. Bugg and came across your query,
Really, I'm just phishing. In my husband's family his great grandfather Hampton Clayborn Bugg had one son (William Burnette Bugg) by his first wife Martha Moore Bugg. William Burnette Bugg was born around 1846. His mother died while he was an infant and Hampton married his dead wife's sister, Sarah Turner Moore. William Burnette Bugg married Mary C. Wheeler in Greene County daughter of Lawrence and Mary A. Wheeler. I've been trying to see if I could find out what ever happened to this half brother to my husband's grandfather. I've searched thru the censuses trying to find this family. The results weren't too informative.
1860 --(prior to their marriage) they were both at home with their parents
1870 --married and living next door to Mary's parents in Greene County, GA
1880 --only William Bugg I can find in Greene County is a Bill Bug, wife Kate (could Mary C's middle name be Catherine and this is a nickname?), children Emet, Lawrence, Ermine, Luther and Olin.
1900 --William B. Bugg, Mary W. Bugg living in Decatur with children Emmie (Ermine?) Luther F. and Effie C.) Luther is listed as a Printer. Mary says she's had 6 children and 6 are living (this matches)
1910 --Luther F. Bugg (Dr,) with wife Elaine and son Francis (has been married 2 years and has an infant son).
A latter census showed him as a physician in Randolph County.
Can you add anything more to this information? I just wanted to try to confirm that this Luther is the son of our William Burnette Bugg. Thanks for any assistance you can give me.
