Dear Jan, It’s so lovely to hear from you! As you saw in my previous posting, I believe that we are “half relations” – you from the marriage of Mary Robison to Jeremiah Bugg, and we from Mary’s 2nd marriage to Henry Arrington/Arinton. We have the evidence of Mary’s marriage to Mr. Bugg, and the will of Mr. Bugg mentions son Samuel. Plus, to me, the use of the Watkins name in your lines further confirms the connection, since Mary’s daughter Elizabeth Arinton married Col. Thomas Watkins. Naturally the two families would have been close.

I have some of the obituaries for your line of the family. And yes, they were in Hephzibah, and many were buried in the “Family Cemetery near Hephzibah.” I’m afraid I don’t know where that is; but perhaps we can find more information.

Here is the obituary I have for your Rev. Alexander Bugg, it mentions the family cemetery:

Augusta Chronicle, November 2, 1915: "REV. A.H.S. BUGG Has Passed Away. He had been a minister of the gospel for thirty-five years. Funeral Here Today. Rev. A.H.S. BUGG, a minister for the Epworth Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA died at his residence there Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock. His funeral will be held at the Hephzibah Methodist Church, Hephzibah, GA today at 3:30 o'clock. Rev. W. T. Hamby officiating, assisted by Rev. R. Wiggins, pastor of St. John's Methodist Church. The interment will be at the family cemetery, near Hephzibah, GA. The Rev. Mr. Bugg was sick only ten days. He was born in Jefferson County, GA. He had been a minister for the past thirty years, and was 68 (?) years old. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Miss Maud Bugg; two sons, and three brothers. Rev. Mr. Bugg was beloved by all who knew him."

And all I know about your Robert Watkins Bugg, his son, is this: Augusta Chronicle, July 13, 1907: PROF. BUGG ELECTED TO SPARTA SCHOOL. The Sparta Board of Education, in session this week, elected Prof. R.W. Bugg of Grantsville, GA, first assistant in the Sparta High School for next scholastic year. Mr. Bugg has just been graduated from Emory College, and comes to Sparta with many strong recommendations, both as to character and scholarship. He is an honor graduate of Emory College, having taken an A.B. degree. His father, Rev. A.H. Bugg, is a member of the South Georgia conference, and is well known throughout the state."

I will gladly share with you any information I have. I have not researched the Bugg’s as much as I have the Robison’s, but I have been in touch with other descendants who gave me more information. And perhaps you would like the information about the Robison’s. Please contact me at gmylius@charter.net for more information. The main reason I ask you to contact me privately is to protect the information of living generations. I would love to learn more about your family! Looking forward to hearing from you. Best, Ginga Mylius
