Christian, congratulations on your new son.
Hope all is well with you wife. What a
wonderful time in your lives.
My knowledge is scant regarding the Bullitt graves of Thomas and Cuthbert. From what I have gathered Cuthbert resided at "Mont View";it looked out on the Quantico Creek which flows into the Potomas River. The estate was situated high on a hill that was known for a long period as the Bullitt Hill. Apparently during the 1950's the cemetery was destroyed? when the VA Power Co. expanded their plant there. The Historic Commission was contacted back in 1989 and they stated they had no data in their repository on the cemetery. Apparently, in 1989 the property was overgrown; the tombstones were no longer visible or there. I was told that aerial photocopies are/were available of that area from the County of Fauquier. Proper agency, unknown. It seems likely the power company would have taken surveys/photographs,etc. at the time of their acquisition of the land.
Perhaps, pertinent information still exist in their record files. I have a copy of a tiny map showing the location "Mount View" and nearby a cemetery(Bullitt, I assume).
Perhaps, the agency: Historic Dumfries Virginia Inc., Dumfries, VA, has useful data
in their collection on the Bullitt graves and land. I would be so pleased (understatement)if we could locate the exact location of the burial sites and have them
properly marked.
Will share any data I locate.. Enjoy your
new baby. Doris
