'gday Judith,
What a pleasant surprise to see an Australian cousin on the Bunker GenForum. I immediately thought you may be connected with Eber Bunker, who was a Nantucket whaling captain, and settled in Sydney Town in 1806. We can trace Eder's ancestors back to Roger Bunker b @1470 of Bedfordshire. (Bunkers Hill in Sydney Cove was named after Eber.)
We have another branch descended from Thomas Buncker b 1595 Wembury, Devonshire, He had a descendant who settled in New Zealand. The line includes Richard James Bunker b 1820 England; d 3 Oct 1905; m Jane James who d 1883 London. Their grandson is Ernest Edward Bunker b 1891 Nelson Prov NZ. Ernest's dad is George Thomas b 1857 and left UK in 1877 on SS Alexander went to NZ and stayed; m Mary Wood, Kumara NZ. George's brother Charles, b @ 1859, stayed with the ship and settled in Canada.
We have a William Henry Bunker b 28 Dec 1845 Binghamton, New York; d 1910 Texas. He is the only one b 1845.
We have no Elizabeth Martin or Maria Isabella Payne in the files. Sorry we can't do better, we have only begun to collect international Bunker data in the last few years.
My dad was a Wm Henry, b 1901, and my oldest brother is Wm Henry Jr. b 1929.
Was ur grandmother Isabella the one who immigrated to Australia?
Would like to hear more about ur family, and our association will try to help you what ever way we can.
