There is a book on of John Fletcher Burdine Jr.'s children. One son was William Murrah Burdine (1843 - 1911) was born in Itawamba County, Miss. His mother was Adeline McKinney. He served in the Confederate Armyas a 1st Lt. He married Georgia Davis in 1869. They had three children, Edward L, John Marion, and Estelle. Georgia died in 1880. He remarriedMary T Freedman in 1882. The had for more children; Robert Freeman, Roddey Bell, William Murrah Jr, and Elizabeth, aka Bess. Elizabeth died in 1992 if I remember correctly . She married an Admiral Read. William M Burdine moved to Florida and tried citrus farming until the great freeze killed his crop. H e later moved to Miami, Florida and on September 2, 1898 he opened W.M. Burdine and Son, which today is known as Burdines, the Florida store which is celebrating ist 100th anniversary. There is a book called "Its's Better at Burdines" by Roberta Morgan Copywrite 1991 about the history of the store chain. It was published by Pickering Press Miami FL 33233 ISBN #0-940495-25-2. It is out of print but I had got a copy because I worked for Burdines sister store, Maas Brothers, based in Tampa, that was merged with Burdines in 1991. I hope this information is helpful
