The following inventory of Ambrose Burford of Amherst Co., VA shows that he was the father of James C. Burford. Is this what you have?

       Inventory and appraisement of the estate of Ambrose Burford, 3 Dec 1835 (W. B. 9, p.214, Amherst Co., VA):
To Nancy Burford, widow, her dower as by will.
1st and 2nd lots of Sylvester and Gustavus Burford
3rd lot to Benjamin McCray in right of his wife
4th and 5th lots of Martha and Amanda Burford
Lot 6th to Micajah Clark in right of his wife Belilah
Lot 7th to James C. Burford
Lot 8th to Thermuthis Burford. She was given a slave named Mary, worth $275, and money and bonds worth $34.61, total $309.61.
Lot 9th to the infant children of Matilda Tinsley, dec’d.
Lot 10th to Archelus Cox in right of his wife Juliana.
