SHREVEPORT, LA - With family and friends at her side, Evelyn Burford McCrocklin chose a peaceful transition to the comfort and freedom of her Spirit Sanctuary as she embraced her Holy Father on Wednesday, November 18, 2009.

A native of Mansfield, LA, Evelyn was born January 24, 1925. She had lived in Shreveport since 1973. She saw God in the oneness of all people and found beauty and splendor in the perfection of nature.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack S. McCrocklin, Sr., her parents, Robert Garland Burford and Cleo Baker Burford, sisters, Dora Lollar and Cleo Carrol, and infant brother, Walter Garland "Tommy Boy" Burford.

Family members who will cherish her memory are her sons, Thomas G. Cooper and his wife, Susan, Jack S. McCrocklin, Jr. and his wife, Lauri, and their son, Austin Reed, and Mark McCrocklin and his wife, Paula, and their children, Grace, Tara, Cord, Megan and Christina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews from the Burford family.

A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held in the chapel of the Grace Home, 1035 Margaret Place, at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 20, 2009. The Rev. Carl Rhoads will officiate. Visitation with the family will follow.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to her longtime friend and caregiver, Veverly Youngblood, for her many years of faithful companionship. The professional and loving care of Chris King and the entire staff of Christus Schumpert Hospice will always be remembered.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Grace Home Residential Hospice whose loving care and heartfelt compassion brought comfort to the entire family during her transition. Rose-Neath Funeral Home
