If you'll look at my recent post in response to a post about the John Burgess family of Union Dist., SC, it'll help provide background information.

David Burgess is part of a SECOND distinct Burgess family living in this same general area in early SC, apparently unrelated to John. He's been genetically linked with another Burgess family in an adjoining county across the border in North Carolina. You can see the schematic for this family on my website, www.millefleurs.tv, under the "Burgess Genealogy" link. The common ancestor for the two lines predates any hard genealogical information about them.

There's a third unrelated Burgess line as well, connected to Emanuel B. Burgess of Spartanburg Co., SC. We have DNA samples from descendants of all three groups.

Prof. Michael Burgess
