GA/AL Burkhalter m McDonald? say 1700-1820

I am searching for ancestors of my ancestor, Reddin Burkhalter McDonald, born 1818
in Georgia. He married a Caroline Matilda Rose born July 1833 in Jones Co. GA. This is the far
southwest part of GA. They were married in Barbour Co. AL, just across the border from GA.

The name Burkhalter is rather rare, and as a middle name, unheard of, so we
suspect that somewhere in his ancestry a Burkhalter must have married a McDonald.

Reddin is also somewhat rare, though not extremely, both as a first and as a last name.
We have found a tiny trace of a Reddin Burkhalter.

It is also possible that Reddin was an immigrant from either Scotland, or from a Scottish
family that had been sopmewhere on the Continent before moving to GA.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Doug McDonald
