It's nice to meet you too! I'm up in Columbia, SC just across the river from Lexington, where the Hendrix family lived during the late 1700's. My father grew up in Florida and still has a lot of family in the Pensacola area. We've just come full circle now, so it seems. Unfortunately I don't know much about Martin James either. What I have been told by one of my aunts was that he was originally from SC, was an orphan and was raised by an uncle. He struck out on his own and ended up seeking employment on the Burkhalter farm where he met his future wife. I was told that he later worked at a lumberyard in Bagdad, FL. His SC connection raises many questions, but my superficial searches have not produced any new information. I do have a large picture of Martin and Elender Jane together, the only one that is known by any of my Hendrix relatives. Except for what I have just related, this image and a few of Elender Jane's personal effects are the only connection that I have to them. Does any of what I have said here sound like anything that you may have heard? Do you know anything else about them or have any other photographs of them? Email me and I'll send you what I have. My address should display now. Thank you for anything you might add to this story and nice meeting you!
