Lillian and dad JesseBurkhalter - John T. Buchwalter connection

Hi! I have just started this process. My grandmother, who was a Coker from McComb, Mississippi. Her mother was Lillian Burkhalter, whom I believe was the daughter of a Jesse and Nannie Burkhalter, both born in 1861, and the granddaughter of a John T. Buchwalter (born 1830), married to Mary J., who was born in 1837. I just want to know if I'm on the right track. I can't seem to get past this point in my tracking. Does anyone have any information about the Burkhalters, or Buchwalters, or the Cokers for that matter? I am quite sure there is a Native American connection somewhere in there. (I'm guessing Choctaw or Houma, but I have no proof of that.) Thanks!
