Hi Peter, there appear to be a few Freeman Burley's and much wrong info posted all over the place. I believe that "your" Freeman Burley born about 1841 could have been born at Portland, and was the son of John Burley born about 1821 and his wife Louisa Carpenter born about 1815, (she) possibly in England. These are the parents named in marriage info for Freeman and his wife Emily DEYO.
Freeman and his family appear on the 1851 and 1861 census at Portland. This John Burley may have been the son of Freeman Burley born July 24,1789 and his wife Polly Waters.
These are things for you to follow up on now. Do not take people's posted info as gospel, so MUCH gets posted that is not verified or backed up with any documentation and I am constantly horrified to see people placing individuals in certain families just because they think they "fit" when they do not belong there. What I mean by this is that people seem to find an individual in the 1881 or other census and say, oh here is John Smith born 1860, this must be his family and then promptly post it as such @ Ancestry. How horrible. Because then someone else gets that info and posts it, and on and on it goes.
Would love to know who parents were for John Keller but can't find anything so far.
