David Burnes-George Washington

Would like to find out more about this line of Burnes. David was son of James Burnes and Jemima Brown Burnes. When his father passed away without a will, David being the eldest son under English law inherited the lions share of his property. This property is where the present day White House and a great deal of Penn. Ave. now sit. David had quite a battle of words with George Washington when Washington decided to purchase it. In one letter Washington wrote to his Sec. of State he referes to Burnes as the obstanite Mr. Burnes.
