Looking for a connection between Mississippi and Virginia, the years between 1850 and 1860 for JAMES C. BURNETT. He married Francis (Franny) Walley in Perry County, Mississippi in 1856. 1860 Perry County, MS census states that he was born in Virginia. There is a James C. Burnett that is a member of a large family in Bedford County, VA, census 1850. James is not listed with this family in 1860. 1860 is first year that he was listed in Perry County, MS married to Francis (Franny) Walley Burnett with two children. Trying to see if there is a connection here in order to continue my search. No one in the family has any information to give me that would point me in the correct direction.
James was born in the 1830's and was in the Civil War. No pention records were ever found. Franny, his first wife, was killed in Alabama around 1877 and James remarried Lou Kirkland in 1882, Wayne County, MS. They had a daughter, Katherine, in about 1884. A MRS. Louisa Burnett married a John Jones in 1884-85 Wayne County, MS. Was there a divorce or did James Burnett die??? Louisa and John Jones had a son named George. In a later census, He was living with sister Katherine Burnett (married name Baxter) in Eastern Alabama. Any information would be greatly appreciated. D. Adams
