I am searching for the parents of Mary A. Bush of Barbour Co., AL. She was born 4 May 1828, presumably in Barbour Co., and died 3 Mar 1902 in Lafayette Co., FL. She married Aretus W. Jones on 23 Dec 1847 in Barbour Co., AL. She had the following issue:
1. Zachariah A.
2. Zilpha J.
3. Lawrence S.
4. Mary Ann
5. Ariel Travis (my ancestor)
I have long believed that she was the daughter of either Zachariah and Mary (Dennis) Bush or William and Sarah Bush of Barbour Co., AL. According to census records, both of her parents were born in Georgia. Her father may also be a Richard Bush, who was living next door to Ariel Jones (Aretus' father) in 1833 in Barbour Co., AL. At any rate, a number of these Bush families moved along with Mary Bush Jones to Lafayette Co., FL in the 1850s.
