Dear SRC --
Malachai Bussey, Dorothy's brother, was my ancestor. Other postings here have given me all I know about Busseys -- other than Malachi's son's grave in Savannah, GA.
The son's name was also Malachai, b. 1825, d.1864, buried in the Confederate graveyard there.
His daughter was Martha Arabella Bussey, b. 1851, Pike Co. GA; m. Jasper Newton Howe. She died 1940, Gainesville, FL, buried Jefferson Davis Co., Denton, GA.
A daughter of their's was Lula Alma Howe, b. 12 Nov. 1876 in Molena GA (Pike Co) d. 8 nov. 1943 Winter Haven, FL. She married James Franklin Stokes. Their oldest daughter, Irma Kate Stokes, b. 20 Aug. 1905, in Hazelhurst, GA, married Arlee Davant Joiner on 16 Jan. 1921 in Lakeland, FL. Kate was my grandmother. She had five children.
So there are some cousins for you.
