This is a lot of info, but none of it is any good unless the first record is for your father. Of the rest, I feel very certain. Do the place names Tyndall or Bon Homme mean anything to you?

I found a record of a Michael W. Bussey, born 1946 in Tyndall, SD who was travelling on the USAT “General E.T.Collins from Okinawa to San Francisco on 5 Jan 1949. He was 2.5 months old. Also on board was Etta J. Bussey, age 23 (so born in 1925) b. Tyndall, SD.
Looking up Etta Bussey I found the following: Etta Joan Bussey, Capt. US Air Force, b. 31 Jul 1925, d. 8 Feb 1998. Wife of Warren G. Bussey. Buried at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV. Section L Site 104
Warren G. Bussey was born about 1924 in Bon Homme, South Dakota. He appears in the 1930 census with his father, Elmer W. (b. 1889 SD) and mother, Florence (b. 1895).
Elmer Ward Bussey b. 14 Oct 1889, Bon home, SD Father, Franklin Bussey, Mother, Florence Harrison. Married 30 June 1916 to Florence Emerson Camfield, b. abt 1883, married in Charles Mix Co. SD. Be careful here…both his wife and mother are named Florence.
Franklin Bussey was born about 1862 in Wisconsin. There is a record for a Franklen Bussey b. 1862 in the 1880 Wisconsin Census for Albion in Dane Co. Franklin was 18 at the time. His mother was Jane and she was born in 1826 in England. Franklin’s father was Benjamin, also born in England in about 1821.
BEST of ALL – a Feb 10th, 1998 Obituary for Etta J. Bussey lists Mike Bussey as surviving her and living in Abu Dhabi at the time. I couldn’t find her maiden name, but if you are able to contact any of these, your cousins, I’m sure they’ll know.
