Retha, saw your reply to a message about the meaning of Bustin. Thank you. My GGGM's maiden name was shown on my GGM's DC in Syracuse, NY as Bustin. I've searched the name and came up with nothing in Ireland where she came from. A Michael Bustin was living with her after she married William Shaughnessy so I assumed the name was correct. Then I guessed that Busteed, which can be found in Ireland, was probably the correct name but that a Gaelic accent written by an Englishman in Liverpool could have been written BUSTIN. This is what may have made it to America in the 1840-1850's. Any thoughts?
