Hi Janet
Thanks for your query re the Bye's and for the info you sent.
Presumably you are descended from William Stanley Bye (1893), William Bye (1841), James Bye (1811) and Job Bye (1774)? How do you fit in?
I have corresponded with other people interested in this line of the Bye's and have tried to piece the various snippets of info together.
I am very grateful to you for giving me some of the Bye lines that emigrated to Canada and I will try to sort out the tree before emigration.
I believe that the Job Bye (born 1834 in England son of John and Rachel Bye) married Elizabeth Douglas on January 24th 1858 and died November 22nd 1912. His wife died January 11th 1917. They had at least 1 child, Lilian who married James McFarlane. Robert Bye born 1837 in Canada married Mary Mosier and had at least 1 son, Francis Clay Bye who married Fanny Eakett.
Although I have been told in correspondence, I haven't, as yet, seen the parish records for Aynho, Northamptonshire to confirm that James (1811), John (1807), George (1803), Robert (1809) and Sarah (1801) were the children of Job and Elizabeth Dumbleton married in Chipping Norton on August 19th 1799. The George is almost certainly the one mentioned in your e-mail as marrying Elizabeth -----? and having a son William baptised on February 28th 1823.
I will need a trip to Northampton Record Office to confirm the Aynho baptisms.
I don't have any specific info about Job Bye's age or date of birth except your e-mail which mentions 1774. He could possibly have died in 1841 but will need to check this out (again at Northampton).
The most likely baptism I have for Job is that on 11th August 1776 in Burford with Fullbrook, Oxfordshire. The parish register entry shows he was the son of Richard Bye of Signet, Oxfordshire.
However, there were 2 other Bye's baptised in the 1770's in Burford with Fullbrook who were the children of a Robert Bye. I think they probably should all be children of Robert (Richard was probably a transcription error).
The other 2 baptisms were:-
Mary Bye bapt 12th July 1772 dau of Robert of Signet.
Robert bapt 1st May 1774 son of Robert of Signet.
I have the marriage of Robert Bye, bachelor of this parish to Sarah Cotterell, spinster of this parish on 5th September 1771 in Burford, Oxfordshire which looks very likely to be Job's parents.
The Robert Bye bapt in 1774 (son of Robert) married Elizabeth Moss on 13th November 1797 in Kencot, Oxfordshire.
I think I will stop at this point. If you have any queries please let me know.
I will write again to bring the Robert Bye (1774) line forward. As you have access to the Bye Genealogical Forum perhaps you could see my reply to Vick Larson of 6th July 1999. This gives details of Robert's descendants. If you have any problems with this please let me know.
Would like to hear where you fit in.
Best wishes
Mick Bye
