America Byland

I am working on my Missouri family and came across a connection to America Byland. She was born in Kentucky on the 29th of June in 1821 and I know that she had a brother named Samuel who was two years younger.

I'm not 100% sure of when America migrated to Missouri, but she ended up in the Johnson Co. area, and at some point around late 1850 and 1860, married William C. Wells.

William and America were not married on the 1850 census, but here's what I have found for them after that date.

1860 - United States Federal Census: Missouri, Pettis County, Elk Fork, Fairview Post Office, image 24, dwelling 11262, family 1255, lines 5-7, taken on the 6th of November 1860.
WELLS, William C. 39 m farmer East TN
WELLS, America 39 KY
BYLAND, Sam 37 merchant KY

1870 - found with a family named William Wells in Ionia City, Elk Fork Twnp, Pettis County, MO
WELLS, William 49 farmer TN
WELLS, America wife 49 keeping house KY
Rucker, Betsy 12 MO
Galeon, George 9 MO

1880 - Washington Twp, Johnson County, MO
WELLS, William 59 head farmer TN SC TN
WELLS, America 58 wife keeping home KY KY KY
Rucker, Eliza [Elizabeth] 21 boarder KY KY KY
Byland, Mary 20 Boarder
Byland, Edw [Edward] 9 Boarder KY KY KY
Byland, Evaline 4 Boarder KY KY KY

William died on the 3rd of March in 1884 in Knob Noster, Johnson County, Missouri and is buried there. There is a joint stone with his wife's birth date on it, but she is not buried with him. She remarried.

At some point America Byland Wells migrated out to Burdett, Pawnee Co., Kansas where she married a widower named Silas Arbigast. Their marriage was the 28th of August in 1891, Burdett, Pawnee Co., Kns. After that, I have no information.

On the information given above, My gr grandmother was Elizabeth Jane Rucker, who can be found living with the Wells family. My mother said that her grandmother had gone to live with a cousin named Wells. What I'm looking for is information on how the Wells were related. The only other Kentucky family that I know of, who were also living in the Johnson Co., MO area were Brim. There were quite a few marriages between the Brim and Rucker families in Kentucky and more in Missouri.

Many thanks, Sam
