My father did family research in the 1950s by contacting his cousins and great aunts and great uncles. Re Ramey, he was able to trace back to Isaac Newton Ramey and Sarah Ann Rice (my 2GGParents). My line descended Josephus (America Elizabeth Limerick), James Milton (Nora Mary Cox), and Robert E.
While researching back in Grant County in recent years, I bought a book, the Grant County News Family Book, published by Ken Stone (publisher of the Grant County News) and edited by John B. Conrad. The book has dozens of family (early settlers in that area) histories submitted by numerous researchers. In that book, it stated in an article submitted by Joe Schulte that Enoch and Susan Miller (my Dad's info showed a last name only of Milner) Ramey were the parents of Isaac Newton Ramey and that Jeremiah and Elizabeth Byron Ramey were the parents of Enoch.
I would appreciate any further information or comments on this line, either forward or backward.
