Byram-Maxey, Pike County, GA

Seeking information on families of Clarissa Byram who married Jackson Maxey and Lucinda Byram who married John Maxey, both marriages occurred in Pike County, GA. Would like to know how the two families are related, if indeed they are.

Clarissa Byram said to be the daughter of Beverly Byram and Sarah Williamson but I have found no concrete evidence or proof to support this. The marriage of Clarissa and Jackson Maxey is said to be mentioned in the book, "The Maxeys of Virginia." I haven't seen the book. I have a copy of this marriage record from the book in the Pike County courthouse. They were married 29 Oct. 1834 by Malachia Lawrence, J.P. (Spelled Malachi in other references). Reference: Page 83 in marriage book covering 1834. Would really love to know who Clarissa's parents were and what the documentation is.

Another marriage in Pike County occurred 4 Aug 1836 between John Maxey and Lucinda Byram, performed by E.D. Re---g (?), J.P. (Marriage book covering 1836, page 124) Have no information on who Lucinda might belong to.

An interesting note is that in 1880 Blount County, Alabama, a John and Lucinda Maxey appear next door to Martha J. (Parker) and William Entrekin. Martha (Parker) Entrekin is the daughter of Martha Byram Parker (wife of John Parker) who was also the daughter of Beverly Byram and Sarah Williamson (evidenced by a story in Georgia Memoirs, written in 1895). Here is the Maxey/Entrekin census entry:(print VERY faded):

#274/274
...Entrican, William, wm, 34, self, (no occupation listed) GA, SC, SC
...Entrican, Martha (Parker), wf, 32, wife, GA, SC, SC (daughter of Martha Byram Parker, granddaughter of Beverly Byram)
...Entrican, Amos, wm, 14, son, GA, GA, GA

...Entrican, James, wm, 4/12, son, AL, GA, GA

This John Maxey is too young to be the one who married in 1836 in Pike County, but the coincidence in proximity was too much to ignore.

Would love to know who these Byram girls and Maxey boys are, their parents and any other information anyone would care to share.

Many thanks in advance,

Judy Kilgore
Newnan, GA
