One of the ancestors I am researching divorced or abandoned his family in Madison Co.,AR and went to CA. It appears he may have married an Indian lady in CA and had additional children. 1860 CA,Siskiyou,Scott Valley p42 16/470/462 June29 Fritz,John A. 36 miner VA 1870 CA,Del Norte, Happy Camp p6 22/128/109 July12 Fritts,John A. 42 Blacksmith 300/200 VA Julia 14 (Ind) CA 1880 CA,Del Norte, Happy Camp 3A 31/54/24 June5 Fritts,John A 52 W married lumberman VA/VA/VA Julia 21 W wife married CA/MO/CA John 7 W son CA/VA/CA Christina 5 W dau CA/VA/CA http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~siskiyou/GreatReg.html Great Register of Del Norte Co., 1873 Compiled August 5, 1873 Happy Camp Precinct age name nativity place occupation Registration 42 FRITTS, John Alexander Virginia Miner 11-17-1866 http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~shastaca/1885delnort.html Del Norte County, CA 1885 Directory Happy Camp Fritts, John - miner 20 acres BLM also has: Fritts,John A on 12-26-1893 purchased land Siskiyou Co.,CA (don't know if this is father or son) By 1900 John Alexander Fritts (sr) is listed in White Co.,AR with his oldest son from his first marriage. We don't know what happened to him after 1900. He might have returned to CA. I also have not been able to find Julia, John Jr, or Christina after 1880. I do believe that John Jr did have descendants, per the following post (her email address isn't good): From: lisabond@msn.com Subject: [FRITTS-L] Fritts (Fritz) search Date: 26 Nov 2001 13:08:24 -0700 This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
