As a hobby I rescue old photos that have identification on them, from auctions, estate sales and antique shops. I obtained two photos of a family that appears (according to the handwriting), LELTER. I couldn't find anyone in the census with that name, for Chicago or California. So I went back and looked for LETTER (incase the person identifying the family didn't cross both Ts. I did locate a LETTER family with the same names as what appears on the family photo. One photo is a family, sitting in what appears to be their house. It reads, George Letter & family of Chicago. Elsie, Amy and Francis (the only individuals named. George (the only male is holding a fan, the female next to him is holding a cat. An older lady appears to have her legs covered with a blanket and is holding possibly a decorative fan. A younger lady is seated with the older lady. On the floor, in front of everyone is a young girl, holding a doll. The house is full of dark wood work is wall papered & has a clock on the wall . The second picture has the following written on it: Taken in Garuanga, California, Feb. 27, 1900. In a different style hand writing (like what's on the other photo) it reads, Francis Lelter (Letter-my guess). I'd like to find family to send these to. If you'd like to obtain them, contact me at: digginroots@yahoo.com for details. Kathy Notify Administrator about this message?
