I am not sure as to whether or not he went by Juan or if he was actually born in California.

I need to talk with my mother who has very limited information on him. She is one of MELVIN MESA's 4 daughters. I do know he was born in 1887, possibly in California on the 24th of June. The day and month is only a guess at this point.

The family story goes, that he died as a result of an explosion in 1915. That explosion was either from possibly a train wreck or some sort of industrial explosion.

I did find this link for search the LA Times Archives (http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/latimes/advancedsearch.html), but in 1915 there were literally hundreds of explosions. Plus without paying a fee, I can not read the entire article, you only get to see the first line or two. Since I did not see the name Juan or John or Jon Mesa in the first line or two, I did not buy a copy of the article.

There was one possible match in the archive, but it named an inspectors name in the first line and I could not see if John was mentioned as one of the others killed. But now that you have given me a date, I will go back and see if that article is dated close to it or on that date.

Thank You SOOOOOO much for all your help. I can not express my gratitude enough to you and the others who have come forward with information about the surnames CURRY and NIEGHBARGER.
