I have the text of a newspaper: from the Santa Cruz Surf 10/3/1900: Miss Lillian Melville and Miss Louise Gonzales who have been visiting in Salinas as guests of their cousins, the Misses Chaboya, have returned.

Yes, it is the 1900 census, my bad. The census was taken in June 1900. The newspaper article appeared in October. Alexander Chaboya is the only Chaboya I found in Salinas at the time. I am trying to discover how either the Melvilles or Gonzales are related. Louise Gonzales is actually the aunt of Lillian Melville, though they were close to the same age. Louise is half-sister to my Francisca Gonzales Melville. I don't know who the relationship is to, it could be either Chaboya or Gulac. And Louise is the daughter by a third marriage, so it could be her daddy married one of them. Its very complicated.
I so appreciate the information. No I didn't have this, so it gives me a starting place. Thank you so much.
