The following is an excerpt from two articles which were in The Evening News on May 12 and 14, 1910. Hon. Claudius Galen Sayle died May 11, 1910 at the family residence, 330 South Fifth Street. He was 83 years old. Judge Sayle was born in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1826 on his father's plantation. In 1842 he practiced medicine in Texas. Came to California in 1852 and has resided here since that time. He located on the San Joaquin River. What is now Fresno County was then Mariposa County. Judge Sayle was a resident of Fresno County for 38 years. He went to San Francisco and in 1881 married Mrs. E. Flora Cummings. Early April 1901 went to San Jose for his health and has lived there ever since. In accordance with his own wish funeral services will be Saturday (May 14) at Cypress Lawn Cemetery, near San Francisco. Judge Sayle had no children of his own, but had an adopted son, Ralph W. Sayle Cummings (also shown as Raphae W. Sayle) who survivies him. He also leaves two step daughters, Mrs. Ethel C. Wright of San Francisco and Mrs. Agatha Cummings Southern of this city. One sister survives him, Mrs C. F. Penn of Eureka Springs, Ark. widow of the late W. E. Penn. Notify Administrator about this message?
