Hello Caballeros formation I have is that the Caballero traces are from Alcaņiz in Teruel province that belongs to the historic Kingdom of Aragon about s.XIII. According with the information I have the first Caballero were a family that arrived from Italy, the Cabalieri, and adopted the Caballero spelling according to the Aragonese/Spanish language. Alcaņiz is the most important village in Teruel in spite of it has only 12.000 inhabitants. My grandfather was born in Albarracin which is about 70Kms from Alcaņiz, nevertheless our family house is in Orihuela del Tremedal also in the Teruel province. Any Caballero in the world are welcome. Visit us! I have been reading some suggestions about our commom roots specially interesting is the justification of Caballero as a Sephardic name. My opinion is that maybe there is not a unic ancestor because Caballero is a common name in Spanish and according to Hispanista Netanyahu about the 80% of the jews became Catholics... the alternative was the exile or the Inquisicion. Then some Sefarditas changed also their family names. Other branches in Filipinas, Tejas, Mexico... they can be a direct emigration or because of the colonised people adopted this family name. In any case there are still some Caballero families in Aragon in spite My name is Jose Caballero Artigas, originaly from Aragon now settle in UK. The inof it is not very common.
