I rec'd an e-mail from a Caballero who stated that those who came to Mexico, when fleeing from Spain, took on the name Caballero. Those going to Israel took a name that began with the letter K.
I can't find my notes, but the Caballero did her research in Spain and Israel.
Will repost once I find the notes.
