Rhonda:
Here's what I have recently discovered through painstaking research. Please understand that it was not popular to be Indian during those times and even less popular to be a "halfbreed." This has been very difficult to trace, but I will try to explain what I found and how I found it. My great great great grandfather, Rev. John Cabbage married Nancy Barrow, the daughter of Jonathon Barrow( a Creek Indian) and Elizabeth Fox. One of their sons, James Cabbage, my great great grandfather, fought in the First Creek Mounted Volunteers for the Confederacy. He married a Tillitha Lowe, daughter of Simon Peter Lowe and Laura Ann Floyd. They had one child, Simon Peter Lowe, Jr., born and died 1858, presumably in childbirth. They apparently adopted Tillitha, who was a Creek Indian. I know this because Simon and Laura were white, but Simon registered as the parent of a Creek Indian. That had to be Tillitha since they didn't have any other children. I'm on a different computer and don't have all of the dates here, but I do on my other computer. I have James' military records and other supporting documentation. I hope this answers your question. Rick
