Can't imagine why you couldn't find John Cabbage and Nancy Barrow in 1850 census. He and Nancy are listed in Warrick Co Census, Hart Twnsp, H#577, along with 6 children (including James) and his mother Elizabeth. In case you haven't found them, Nancy is buried in Cabbage Cemetery, also Hart Twnsp along with various of their infant children. She died 4-18-1852.
I have been interested in John as he married Elizabeth Dimmett, (a gg aunt) in 1853, but I have not been able to determine when she died. I believe she went to Al with John after 1860, probably following daughter Elizabeth who married James phillips. Also son Thomas married a Dimmett, niece to Elizabeth. Would you have any information on John after he left Ind?
There is a short biography on James W. in a book called FOUR HISTORIES OF WARRICK CO, in which he is named as a Prominent Person. This was written in 1909. If you have not discovered this article, I would be happy to send you a copy. I don't have a scanner so would have to send it by mail. Contact me directly if you are interested.
