Cabbage in Chester PA & Shenandoah, VA

Adam Cabbage (1755 - Mar. 17, 1844) served in the Revolutionary War and was once from Chester Co. PA. However, I have not been able to find any other record of the Cabbages in Chester CO., PA records. He probably had a brother and a son named John. The familiy name might have earlier been Kabbis. The family associated with German Swiss families.
Adam enlisted from Millerstown or Reeds, Shenandoah Co., VA. He was discharged after two years at Valley Forge. He spent his later years and died in Grainger Co., TN.
Can any of you give me clues to records that might be found in PA or VA for Adam Cabbage?
