Concerning your message of last November, I can't help thinking that there must be a connection between our Cabells. The only factual Cabell record I have besides Bible and family references is the 1806 Casey Co, KY marriage bond of my 4th great grandparents Polly Cabell born 1789 in VA and William Goode. It bound William Goode and (unidentified)John Cabbel and was signed by William Goode and (unidentified)Willi Cabel. My family claimed that Polly had brothers John and Samuel.
I believe the Goodes and the Cabells were neighbors in the Dunnville area near Goose Creek and the Green River. There is an 1803 Casey Co, KY marriage bond on record, this one of Sally Cabell and John Rubarts which states the consent of her father William Cabell and it was witnessed by (unidentified)John Cabbell. The acknowledged consent meant that Sally was under 18 then. William and Polly (Cabell) Goode named their 8th child Polly Rubarts Goode. The Goodes left KY in 1820, leaving behind in nearby Adair Co only one known Goode relative, William's father Campbell Goode and his second wife Susannah (Thomas) Dameron Bondurant Goode.
There seems to me to be a connection, but the gap between the William Cabell and the Willi Cabel on the 1803 and 1806 marriage bonds and the William you speak of is a mystery. There were possibly three Cabell families in the Dunnville area between 1800 and 1850 or later, and they all claimed descendancy from the Breckinridge line. Some of my unproven family "fables" refer to that connection as well.
I would be interested in any comments about the above.
