Parents of John M. Cabaniss?

I have a 3rd g grandfather named John M. Cabaniss b. abt 1783, possibly in Louden Co., VA d. 27 Dec. 1847 in Springfield, IL. Married to Lucy Waggener (Waggoner?) probably before 1815. The question is who were John M. Cabaniss parents. I have “website data” from various sources that say he is s/o John, s/o Mathew, s/o of Henri and other similar unproven sources that say he is s/o of John, s/o Charles, s/o Mathew, s/o Henri. Allen Cabaniss book relates that John s/o Mathew had only one son, William. Allen Cabaniss does not credit Charles s/o John with any sons but does not rule it out. My theory is that he is s/o John, s/o Charles, s/o Mathew, s/o Henri. This would make him the brother of Lucy b. 1785, who married David Caldwell. It is reported by Rick Waggener that three Cabaniss men (apparently brothers) married three Waggener sisters, Lucy, Mary (Polly), and Catherine around 1815. Does anyone have any facts that they can share with me on this bunch. Thanks
