That is definitely them and your replies are most helpful.

So, my fourth great grandmother's name was Betsey something. I would have never known without your help.

Isaac's wife Mary's surname was definitely Homan since they named a son Jesse Homan Cable. They had nine children. One of their grandchildren is the famous author George Washington Cable, Jr., who toured with Mark Twain and by whom it was said was the south's finest literary genius.

Your ancestor Sarah Bacon, then, was John's second wife. Did they have a child, Samuel, b. who married a Catherine, and had a daughter Emma C.? He was 70 in 1870 so he would have been born after Betsey died, which I didn't know about.

We are related to the Cables by both Emma C. Cable, believed to be the daughter of Samuel and Catherine Cable, and Mary Jane Cable, the daughter of William Harvey Cable and Nancy Ann Madden.

They both married Maxon men and we used to think they were sisters. Now I believe they were first cousins who married brothers.
