Ellie,
my gmother - Maria Julia Cabral and her sister Maria Norbina Cabral had a brother named Manuel. He was the son of a second marriage. I will find out more about him and see what his mother's name was, but I don't believe my great uncle was born as late as 1877.

By the way, they were born in Bretanha, Ponta Delgado, Sao Miguel, Acores.
