Christian Sr. Revolutionary War Pension Claim S.42641-Granted May 2, 1818 Franklin-Portage Co.-OH
Enlisted in March 1776 and served one year as private in Capt. William Rippey's Company, Col. Irvine's Pennsylvania Regiment and was in the battle of Three Rivere, Canada. Also found on PA Militia roll. (I have complete claim and grant for Rev. War Claim).
In the 1790 First Federal Census, he is in Washington Co PA, Land grants showing"Fifty acres of land situated on the waters of Wheeling Creek, adjoining land of John Mufsen, Michael Crow, Jacob Simmons and R. Nixon. Dated 2 Sept 1798. These deeds spell name Kackler, but on Greene Co PA tax list it is spelled Cackler.
Quoted from "Recollection of an Old Settler" written by Christian c. Cackler Jr. "I was born in Washington Co PA 27 June 1791. in 1795 we moved to Wheeling Creek, Greene Co PA, about twenty miles from Wheeling, VA.

This is all from a book on the Cackler family at Allen County library in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Did not/could not substantiate the father or mother of Christian and did not substantiate much of what was written (there is much more). Could there be errors. Don't know. I was concerned in getting to my end of lineage with John Cackler, Chritian Sr. son, and the western movement of that end of the family. The compiler of the book states that she made the assumption about Abraham and Elizabeth being Christian C. Sr. parents.???????
