my name's Lucia Cacopardo, but I prefer being called Lucy (it sounds more American, don't you think?)
I'm 19 years old and I'm writing from Ghedi, the town where I live, near Brescia, nothern Italy.
I'm in my fifth year at ITC, specializing in Foreign Language Corrispondence. I study English, German and Spanish. I'm going to come to Boston in 18 days with my mothertongue English teacher and some other people... I'm so exited!!! I love America!!!
By the way, I don't feel like making you waste your time listening to my entire autobiography so, after having told you who I am, I will explain you what is my problem related to the surname "Cacopardo". Every time I speak English with somebody foreigner, English mothertoungue or just a teacher, I'm asked about my origin or just about the existance of any relatives who do speak English as mothertoungue. My answer has always been "Sorry, but frankly I don't know". Now I'd like to give these people a more satisfactory answer.
Can you help me by supporting my genealogical research with more pieces of information about members of Cacopardo Family immigrating to America?
My father's name is Letterio Filippo Cacopardo, he was born in Messina on January,24th 1948. He's the eldest of four children: 3 men and a woman. My uncles'names are Filippo and Carmelo, while my aunt's name's Clotilde.
My grandpa's name's Leonardo Cacopardo and my grandmum's name was Pasqualina Azzaro, she died in 1997.
My father came to Ghedi, the town where I live, because of the military service approximately in 1967-1968 and here he met my mum, Micheletti Biancateresa. They got married in 1970 and a year later they had their first child, my brother Leonardo. 12 years later, in 1983, I came to the world.
The name of the eldest Cacopardo i know is Letterio and he was my father's grandpa, he died when my father was a little 10 year aged child.
I would be very grateful to you, whenever you could help me
Hoping in a prompt answer I greet you with my
