Cadger & Teacher or Tocher
I am hoping someone on this list can help me.
My grandmother, ETHEL MAUD BROWN CADGER (this is the way it is written on extract), born illegitimately.
August 24, 1902... 8:15 pm at 101 Water Street,
Glasgow to CATHERINE CADGER...domestic servant
108 Hill Street, Garnethill, Glasgow, district of St Rollox, Lanark.
There is no name listed for the father, only the name BROWN before CADGER.
The probable father of Ethel was a David BROWN b/1848 d/1935. David BROWN & his wife Margaret (Maggie)
MACDONALD took the baby Ethel from Catherine CADGER, to the Isle of Skye where she was raised by Margaret
MacDonalds parents. In 1914, David BROWN, Margaret MacDonald BROWN & (daughter) Ethel came to Ontario,
Canada, finally settling in Hamilton, Ontario.
The following info from the GROS:
Catherine CADGER was born the illegitimate daughter of Margaret CADGER on 13th May 1883 @ 7.00am at the Gate
Lodge, Boyndlie, Tyrie. She was registered by her mother, Margaret CADGER (Domestic Servant) on 2nd June 1883.
Her mother Margaret CADGER was born on 26th April 1855 @ 1.00am at 26 High Street, New Pitsligo, Tyrie.
Margaret's parents were Alexander CADGER and Frances TEACHER who were married in 1854 in Tyrie.
Margaret's birth certificate states that Alexander was a "Farm Servant" aged 20 years (this puts his d.o.b. as 1835) and
Frances "Her 1st child" aged 21 years (d.o.b. 1834).
When I searched the LDS site for the parents of Margaret CADGER born 26th of April 1855, her parents were listed as
being Alexander CADGER & Frances TOCHER, not TEACHER.
Four other children born to this couple.

Which name is correct? Frances Teacher or Tocher?
I cannot search for the surname TEACHER as every posting with the word 'teacher' comes up.
I can't go any further with this search until I know which name is correct. Can anyone help? Is anyone on this list related to
Cadgers? In a year of searching I have only found 2 others searching for CADGER.
