Carol , You are correct on the death date of Jean Cadieu, 30 September 1681. Sorry I was reading French & not very well. I have all this info on my computer & can print it off if you need more. There is a sory about Jean Cadieu on line in French at Http://www.multimania.com/CadieuxJ.htm. I have some of the original document from film at the archives in Montreal & the FHL. One that I love is the Cadieu Legend. I had it translated. It is about his death after fighting the Indians on the voyage home. It tells of the story & the song the voyageurs sang as they traveled , Here in Detroit, MI we are celebrating our 300th Birthday . Jean's , son , Pierre Cadieu came to Detroit under Cadillac as a bargeman 30 May 1705. This info was taken from "Cadillac's Village" or "Detroit Under Cadillac" with list of property owners and A History of the Settlement 1701-1710. My French Heritage connects me to eight of the original families of Detroit. There was a massacre of infants in 1689 by the Iroquois at Lachine. I will look it up & see which children were killed
