Carol, Yes I was refering to The Cadieux Legend & Lament . I only have the Legend & picture of the monument to Cadieux on the where he died. How do you know it was the son Jean married to Marie Bourdon & not his father , Jean married to Marie Valade?
My research on my grandmother' French family has always been a work of love. I started this research near 20 years ago. Do you use the P.R.D.H. as a source for your research?
I have the P.R.D.H. on line & have used it to fill in some of my connection to Franc also to find a marriage or most of all the children that I am missing.
I live in Grosse Pointe , just out side of Detroit,MI USA At our main library we have the Burton Collection . It is a wonderful place to do any research. Since I live on the boarder of the US & Canada I have many Libraries & French sources not to far away to do research.
Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac had been the commandant at Mackinac from 1694-1698 during this time he thought going southward as a better location for founding a colony. He reasoned that a location on the Detroit River would tend to keep the English from trading among the upper or French Indians Having obtained permission from his governmemt to found a colony at Detroit -he did so on 24 July 1701. I took this info from a book "Cadillac's Village" compiled by C.M. Burton in Detroit ,1896. Now we are celebrating Detroit's 300 th Birthday. The oldest city in this part of the country.
My line of Cadieu's is Pierre /Renee Foureau/ in France, Jean/Marie Valade married in 26-Nov 1663, in Notre-Dame de Montreal, Quebec Canada. ct Basset now is where our lines part I am from their son ,Pierre/Jeanne Mercan/Marsan & next their son Gabriel married to Marie Francoise Proulx, & their son Joseph Gabriel Married to Louise Marie Debonne & -their son Michel/ married Archange Gouin in 1830 at St. Anne's Detroit, MI USA Their first son, Charles bapt 1831, same place. Charles married Matilda Payee at St. Paul in Grosse Pointe, MI 17-January 1854, their daughter ,Frances married Louis Joseph Leduc 17-November 1885 , same place their daughter Sophia married Norman Dick 20, January 1917 at Annuciation Church in Detroit, MI their first child Lorraine was my mother.
Did I misunderstan you? Are you from Jean & Marie Valade son Jean or Pierre?
Let me know & also let me know if you do not have access to PRDH & I will look for you. Pierre who married Marie Tougard/Tougas & Francois who married Genevieve Sabourin. If you have not checked PRDH tell me the names you have & I will look for you. Who was Pierre's father & mother-just so I have the right line. Valerie
