So nice to hear from you. Thanks for your prompt reply to my message. I would love to work with you to find additional information on the Cadieux family. It's so difficult to work on family history at a distance. When I lived in Michigan, didn't have an interest in it, it's only been the last 5-6 years that I've gotten involved. You've probably heard this many times before, but I wish I'd started earlier when my grandparents were still alive. Even my parents have a difficult time remembering names and places.
The Cadieux relationship is through my mom, her name is Mary Louise Paye(t), and her great grandparents were Charles LaFlamme and Zoe Octavia Cadieux. She remembers visiting relatives in Grosse Pointe as a child, just not a whole lot more than that. Her father Wilford Paye died when she was 16 and she doesn't even have a photo of him. I've been contacting cousins etc, in an attempt to come up with a picture for her, but with no luck so far.
The Dennison book has been extremely helpful, unfortunately I've been unable to get any information from St. Paul's. I've written them a few times in the past year requesting information and am told they are much too busy to do any research. I spoke with a sister Ruth Ann yesterday and she was very pleasant. I felt bad because she seemed so overwhelmed with work, and I was adding to her burden. I'd like to plan a trip to Michigan next year with my parents. It would be fun to trapse through cemetaries and churches gathering information. So interesting, and so much fun.
I currently live in Wyoming, have a daughter who recently married and settled in St. Louis. I used to work for newspapers, Gannett owns the Detroit News and many other newspapers around the country. I am a controller (accountant) and have worked at newspapers in Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina and Washington DC. Dropped out of the fast lane a few years ago to enjoy life a little more. I have no regrets.
How many grand children do you have? It sounds as though you're doing it right, spending time with them will give them memories for a lifetime.
As I said before, any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I'm absolutely fascinated that you live on land that was Cadieux farmland, and that Charles and Zoe lived a couple of blocks where you're located. I've been able to find very little information on them other than what was in the Dennison book.
Well I suppose I've rambled on far too long, so I'd better close.
Take care Valerie, hope to hear from you soon.
