I am a resident of Cheboygan Michigan and Christian Wachter would be my grandfather's grandfather. It is my understanding that Christian and Marie moved from Red River Manitoba in the mid to late 1800's to farm on the Black River in Cheboygan. Christian was from Austria and received some land for serving in the Canadien Armed forces. Apparently farming was not so good, so they moved South.I was fortunate to come across a letter that was written by Marie Antoinette to another relative explaining their move to the U.S. and a lot about my family. They had several children; one of them I believe is buried here in the Black River Cemetery;one of them William H Wachter, my grandfather's father. I may be able to locate the above mentioned letter if you are interested.
