I am seeking descendents and information on James CAFFELL, who died 4 October 1859, aged 69(Bloomsbury, London, Mdx). The 1851 census has him born Buckaton, Somerset - we believe this to be in the Frome area, and is possibly Beckington. It is thought he moved to London pre-1818, where he married twice, had 9 children, and was an Umbrella Maker and Master; London directories connect this industry with the name through to 1914 - there was even a "Caffell Umbrella Hospital". The name has a number of spelling variations including CABBELL. As an example the 1818 Poll Book for the City of Westminster, Parish of St James, has: CAMFALL, James, 29, Peter Street, Umbrella Maker. Could this be him?
