Hi All,
I just found the following message from 2001 but thought I might get more response if I just started a new message.

I also seek info. re: Robert Hiram Caines's ancestors. I know some of them were millers at Fallsburg, Ky. My Robt.'s parents were Henry and Mary Salisbury Caines. He was born in March ?, 1884, I believe, and had siblings: Harry Cooley Caines, Woots W., Gertrude, Minnie, that I know of. He was born in Lawrence County KY and lived alongside the Big Sandy River.

I recall the mention of a Dick Caines, Edward, Ollie Caines Jones, and there is a cemetery near the Big Sandy River so old the names are barely distinguishable on the headstones. There is a Harmon buried there among others. I'm sure this is the same family if one is interested in searching the public records of Law. Co.

All of this family were employed by the C&O Railroad. My father-in-law, Robert Hiram, worked for them for 59 years, finally retired as a conductor. His brother, Woots W., was a bridge superintendent, Harry Cooley also worked in bridge department, and the rest were girls.

Their property was acquired at tax sales from other members of the family dating well back into the 1800s. Ed and Ollie were cousins but I don't know the name of their father. They lived at Potter Station just north of Louisa.

I may be able to direct you to more information but that's about all I have.
Good luck in your search.

My interest is Ed and OLLIE JANE!!

I'm trying to help Ollie Jane Caines Jones' youngest daughter Esther find out anything about her CAINES grandparents and the CAINES line back of her

Esther know that her CAINES grandparents were:

Hiram CAINES and Fanny. I now know that Fanny was Frances 'Fanny' Salisbury. We also know that Fanny's sister Mary married a CAINES also....William Henry CAINES, s/o Hiram CAINES Sr & Frances Nancy Arthur.

Esther always thought that Fanny and Mary married brother. HOWEVER, I've only found Wm. Henry CAINES brother Hiram Jr. m. Luvenia Summers. They had a son Gilbert and Esther doesn't remember anyone by that name.

Just today I stumbled across another Hiram in my database (you know how you can look forever and then VOILA something will just jump out at you!!!!)

I've found Hiram CAINES b. 1869 s/o Thomas CAINES and his 1st wife - Florence Patton. The date of 1869 would fit with Fanny's 1864. This would make Fanny married to Mary's husband's nephew = still a CAINES.

I know that Fanny and Hiram were not married yet in 1880 because Fanny was still listed with her parents - Robert Salisbury and Jennie ?? Salisbury. Then by 1900, Fanny is listed as a widow (but of course, no husband's name is listed!!) with 3 children James 'Jamie' W., Ollie Jane and Edward.

My cousin Esther remembers all of those names. By 1910, Fanny is also deceased.

Does anyone out there know anything about who Fanny's husband was???

Thanking you in advance,
Lynda Davis-Logan

(I'm also a CAINES descendent of Job Caines via his daughter Clarissa who m. John Chaffin. They were my 3rd Great Grandparents).
