UPDATE to my previous message regarding CAINES in KY:

Going back over my information and due to new information that I've just recently discovered, I've come to the conclusion that James 'Jamie', Ollie Jane and Edwards's father was HARMON Caines and that Harmon was the son of Hiram Caines and his wife, Frances 'Nancy' Arthur and that Harmon was the younger brother of Thomas who m. 1. Florence Patton and 2nd Martha Ellis. Also, William 'Henry' Caines who m. Mary Salisbury (the sister of Fannie Salisbury) was a brother.
The NEW information that I found was James 'Jamie' Caines death certificate and the informant was Edward Caines (his younger brother) and Edward says:
the father was HARMON CAINES
the mother was FANNIE SALISBURY

I would certainly hope that Edward (even though he would have been young - anywhere from 1-10 years old when his father passed away) would have known the correct name for their father.

ALSO, the birth date for Hiram (s/o Thomas and Florence Caines) would have been 1869 - we know this from the Census in 1870. This would have made him 17 when James 'Jamie' was born. Now I know this is possible BUT is it probable?

The HARMON (s/o HIRAM and Nancy Caines - brother of Thomas - listed above and Wm. Henry) was born in 1859 which seems a bit more probable.

Even though Esther thought her grandfather's name was HIRAM I'm thinking the HARMON was her grandfather AND THAT HIRAM was her great-grandfather's name.

Also, after Esther and I talked about this last Saturday, she could remember Uncle Dick and Uncle Andy and that Andy was the youngest. This would certainly fit the children of HIRAM and Frances NANCY CAINES.

Any thoughts out there??
