There was a infamous Caines family in the parish of Bitton east of Bristol, England. They were based there for hundreds of years and in the late 1700's and early 1800's they led a infamous gang of robbers called the Cock Road Gang who terrorised the area. Some were transported and hung and much has been written about the gang.
