Calcott - Callicott - Callicut

A couple of years ago I asked about a Calcott in Charles City Co VA in the early 1600s - see

There have been a number of, slightly contradictory postings on the Harris GenForum confirming that a John Harris married a Dorothy Calcott, with Harris descendents. She is variously given as born 1588, 1594 or 1600, and died perhaps 1638 (but then her husband is also givern as 1588-1638, so that must be very speculative. She is also described as "Dorothy Calcott or Lymbrey".

Some Harris research indicates that the John Harris/Dorothy Calcott marriage was in England and that they went to Virginia in 1622, see for example . On the other hand others claim that the marriage was in Virginia in c1610, see

This latter date would fit better with her being the daughter of William Callicutt, goldsmith, who went to Virginia in 1608 on "second supply ship", see
This man is mentioned in the Travels of Captain John Smith - see near the end of

Perhaps this is all a red herring in looking for our elusive Hercules Calcote!
