There were probably more notches on their gunbelts than we know, for these brothers were said to be "blood-thirsty." Here is the write-up of the murder of 1st Lt. William H. Saunders (d. Dec. 23, 1865) in The Ouachita Telegraph dated Jan. 4, 1866
